Congratulations to my class for achieving such excellent SQA results! Below is the art and design work- well done to everyone!
Some of the fantastic artwork created by my S4 class last year!
I will be writing a newsletter each month in order to engage more parents/carers with the work of the department and hopefully encourage pupils to share more of their work with their parents/carers at home. The June newsletter is about what the pupils can work on over the summer when they have the time. Working/investigating ideas independently helps to gain confidence and hopefully pupils will feel up to trying out some of the suggestions. Have a fab summer holiday when it comes!
Hot off the press we just heard that Keryn has won this competition and will receive a £100 voucher for Amazon from the society! Well done to Keryn who worked hard on creating a new poster for the innocents society whose headquarters are in Motherwell. Its always nice to win a competition and even nicer for Keryn who will no doubt enjoy her prize!
Here is a selection of some of our National 5 practical work from session 2013/14. The work was created by S4-S6 pupils and the design unit consisted of either a graphic design for an African art exhibition in a museum or for a zoo or wildlife park. The expressive work was a still-life piece.
Finally the stamp designs are complete and look fantastic! Leah McDonald won the 15-17 yrs age category to have her design printed as part of a set of 4 stamps that are now on sale for £1 in the zoo shop. All profits go to animal conservation and we are all very proud of Leah for drawing such a great design and winning! Overall we had 5 highly commended as well as Leahs design so well done! You can see the designs on the zoo’s website as as soon as we get a copy of the stamps I will post it here so watch this space! click here to see the stamps
